Beautiful! When I drove on that years ago, the fog was so thick that I could barely see five feet in front of the car.

What!? No birds!? Okay, I'll let it go this time, seeing as these are really nice images.

But don't let it happen again!!!

Nice shots. We drove Skyline last year in the fall and also the Blueridge Parkway. Both were fantastic!

For those who don't know, the Skyline Drive is a 105-mile stretch of two-lane road where the maximum speed limit (enforced!) is 35 miles an hour. One should allow 3-4 hours to make the full drive. There are only four entrances, but 75 overlooks. If one really wants a scenic trip, enter Skyline Drive at its northern Front Royal, VA entrance, drive the full length through Shenandoah National Park (seniors take note: your lifetime Senior Pass will grant you free entry) to the southern end at Rockfish Gap, and continue your journey on the Blue Ridge Parkway to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park near Cherokee, NC.

Some great information can be found here: http://www.visitroanokeva.com/things-to-do/blue-ridge-parkway/skyline-drive/

Thanks Jerry...so glad you liked them! I remember one year I was at Big Meadows and looked out my window and the fog was rolling in...I never understood the full meaning of that until I saw it roll up the mountain...I wish I had captured it on time-lapse photography!
