The Jubilee was to celebrate 60 years of our Queen's reign.There were many celebrations including the lighting of beacons.This goes back hundreds of years when an enemy was sighted as one warning beacon was lit so the next and so on.
The Queen holds no executive or legislatively powers and is basically a figurehead but the majority of us are extremely fond of her and the example she sets of tireless public service.
