Can I import raw images from a Nikon D7200 to Lightroom 5.7?

I don't think 5.7 supports the D7200 but trying to verify this.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

Nope, 5.7 does not support the D7200

You need at least Lightroom 6.0

BUT, you can shoot raw and use the free DNG converter to convert the NEF's to DNG first and use Lightroom 5.7 to edit the DNG files

BTW - I convert all my raws to DNG prior to editing in Lightroom myself, so nothing lost

Don, I have a D7000 and Lr 5.7 and so I don't have the problem that PARA4DCR is having. However, how would I convert my NEFs to DNGs ?? I think this can be done in Lr as the images are imported or transferred from the SD card onto the computer. I don;t think I need dedicated software to do this. Not sure.
I really need to upgrade to Lr CC.

If Lightroom can read the NEF's yes it can convert to DNG, if however it cannot read them you can download the free Adobe DNG converter and convert them outside of Lightroom so lightroom can import and edit them.

I'm really new to this game, so forgive my ignorance, Why do you convert RAW or NEF files to DNG? What's the benefit?

More software support, mostly also if you are wanting to make color profiles using say the colorchecker passport then it needs a dng file not a NEF or CR2 file. Lightroom can also export as a dng file which can be useful reducing the size of a 16 bit tiff file for example.

Slightly smaller files, faster loading and saving, no xmp sidecar files, raw data retained.

Downside, DNG not editable by all pp software, especially camera provider software.

Thanks again.
