Ooohh, the first word to pop into my head was sassy! And Google agrees: lively, bold, and full of spirit; cheeky.

Love this playful side of your work, Don.

Impressive! Full impact for me! I do some water color painting as well as occasional oil and this is exactly what came to mind. Well done!

Thanks Carlysue. My grandfather did some oil painting and was quite good at it but unfortunately for me that gene didn't get passed on.

Yeah, well, this takes a skill and creative mind as well and I think your grandfather would be amazed.

Lot's of processing here. I think your efforts show an understanding of the different effects and they work with each other. I don't know how you did this; but you have really created an interesting and very attractive photo.

Thanks Erich.

Basically it went like this:
Picture One is focus stacked; it gives nice sharp edges to all the petals.

Picture Two is a texture file generated from Picture One. The plugin is Microsoft Impressionist which shipped with Front page 98. I believe it was also later offered as a free download but apparently is now hard to find. It's a 32 bit program and uses 8 bit files.

Load Picture One and paste Picture two on top. Change the blend mode of Two to multiply. Added levels and curves adjustment layers and merge visible.

Finally, for Picture Three (which needs more work to be considered finished), selected one of the presets from Brilliance/Warmth Nik Color Efex Pro 4.

That is extremely clever and shows not only an imaginative vision of what you wanted, but also the ability to use software to achieve what you mind already envisioned. Impressed!

Thank you for the info, Don. What a great idea to use the original image manipulated to a texture. I don't think I've read that tip before, and if I did, I forgot, so it's new-to-me today
