A Common Garden Spider

This will be the last from my walks round the pond - I'm sure you will be tiring by now!
I think its a garden spider, but you may know better?
Anyway, he seems to have got into a bit of a mess with the web-spinning thing. He eventually left the knotted bundle at the top and continued afresh but still connected to it. Unlike Bruce I got bored and left him to it! So much for perseverance.

Another winner IMO. The perspective and the knotted thread that seems to just stop in space - very engaging! I also think the slash of large out of focus leaf (?) diagonal to the spider silk adds interest.

Yes, I liked that background leaf and positioned the spider over it purposely Linda.
Removed a couple of distracting blades from the edges in pp. A single web thread does continue up to the top left corner, but I'm not certain you'll see it in the upload?
Thanks for commenting, it's always appreciated.

I like this "environmental portrait" of this spider...the two supporting threads from the upper left region are visible in the upload on my iPad. Good pose, composition, color, focus, and subtle BG.
Nicely done!

Ah, thought you should be able to see those threads. The pond was well coloured due, I think, to being continuously fed by a spring, so provided a quite pleasing neutral green background. The only thing that spoilt it in a few spots around the pond was an occasional highlight reflection. This has spoilt a shot of a long jaw spider in the centre of his web. If I can tone it down I may relent and bore you all further.
Many thanks for your comments Dave.
