Long Jaw, or Stretch Spider

Or so my wife tells me.
Not my sort of thing really but the sun on his bean-like body caught my eye - then I noticed there was more to him than I first realised.
I guess they're pretty common as there were dozens of them around the pond. I sort of warmed to them - always liked long legs!
Do you like him? The shot is hand-held and, for the purists, should have been a tripod effort I know. Again, please download to see it the way I mean you to.

l love spiders! I love your simple composition with the diagonal line, and the bits of green in the stem and spider's body. Well seen, beautifully presented!

Thanks Linda - this one was taken a day or so earlier than the damsel post, and a bit earlier in the day I think so not quite such harsh light.

A well focused, exposed, and composed image of an interesting subject!
Well done.

nice shot with lots of depth. I like the pose of the spider all slumped and watching very much. Tripods in the wild are not that practical in macro (my opinion). The slightest breeze and the shot has moved away, much better to be able to make your tiny distance adjustments by hand.

I agree Piet, tripods can be a pain at times. I have, like most photographers, acquired a few over the years, but use them seldom, and you're right, the breeze was a nuisance.
He does look like a predator, doesn't he? The pose only attracted me once I realised what he was - prior to that it was just his body I'd noticed and I thought it was part of the seed head! Thanks for your comments.
