Hi, Just acquired a new camera and am trying to quickly solve a issue, I have a Nikon D300 camera & a Nikon SB-800 speedlight. I want to remotely use the flash as I did with my Nikon D-70. "off camera without remote accessories" I am looking to shoot car shows outdoors and use the speedlight for side lighting. I can not find information in the manual how to accomplish this. I also have a CyberSync Remote Receiver & Transmitter but am wondering if I need them to use the flash off camera without it as I only have 1 receiver & 1 transmitter and use them for my studio strobe.
Thanks in advance for any & all responses.

Ed, you will need to remember when shooting in the commander mode, with your SB-800 flash that the FLASH and the Camera need to see each other! Usually indoors this isn't a problem because the signal bounces off the walls if the flash is in the same room. OUTSIDE it's a different animal. Depending on how far away you are and where you place the flash the two might not communicate. You will probably have better results using your transmitter on the top of the Camera and the receiver on the flash. I don't think the Cyber link works in the TTL mode so you will have to use the manual settings for the flash.
