According to the latest rumor, the new 6Dii will have 5-axis stabilization. Pretty soon you DLSR shooters will see what you've been missing out on for the last 5 years.
I love how Canon is quick to implement the latest technology.
If I'm not mistaken, that feature is video only on the 6DII.

BHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHHA!
Even better yet. Way to go Canon....baby steps, hell, more like ant steps.

It pays to do your homework :)

I almost said that I'd be curious if they were going to bastardize/cripple the 5 axis stabilization...I guess my original instincts were right.
Yes they'll keep their conservative approach and stay number 1 for now ;) Surprisingly enough in Japan Canon is #2 for mirrorless but they are very slow to implement new technologies.

The Canon M5 already has 5-axis stabilization and it will work in concert with the IS in the lens.

My mistake thought you were referring to the 6DII. Pardon me Robert.

Yes, that I knew...that's why I said DSLR....you know that old technology that people insist on buying to make them a better photographer.
Yes IS in the lens gives me sharp shots. Go figure :)

Not the same as a true 5-axis stabilization.
As long as it works well and it does, I really don't care and obviously at this point in time no one else does either. The numbers speak for themselves. I don't care what others do, as long as i get sharp shots. I will admit that camera manufacturers have to embrace new technologies otherwise they will lose people.
The joke is in all the folks that love to criticize Canon. They are still #1 in sales. So they must be doing something right. Despite what some say...

I was in reference to Cdouthitt's post about Canon being behind his favorite brand on 5 axis stabilization, he did not seem to know Canon released the M-5 last year.
Oh, Nikon doesn't have it yet.
Olympus, Pentax, Sony and now Canon. But lack of it doesn't seem to have hurt sales. Or image quality for that matter. It will make it easier to use older lenses or lower priced ones that don't have IS. Some great lenses come in two versions, w/o IS and with (at a much higher price).
I do a lot of birds at high SS so turn off stabilization anyway. It also is pretty much not needed when on a tripod.
