I am planning to going to Mt. Mitchell in NC to view the solar eclipse in August. What type of filter(s) should I get for my Nikon D7200 camera? I am also planning to get special glasses to view the event.

I ordered a camera filter and viewing glasses from Thousand Oaks 2 weeks ago - it was just shipped today. They were quoting 3 weeks...if you're going to order, do it soon as I suspect that lead time will increase as the eclipse nears. Oh, and to whom do I speak about getting a clear sky on the day of??? LOL

I am going to use my welding hood, like I have done with every other eclipse.

Have you taken pictures at each eclipse? Why take pictures at more than one such event? {what changes}

yep, I tape a 4x4" gold plated welding lens lens onto a camera lens.
anywhere from a #10-12 will work. I doesn't hurt your lens or your camera.
Every welding supply store has them as, does amazon.
Glass lenses are better than plastic, the price is around 20 dollars.
Do not buy a"Quick Lens" they cost more and you do not need it.

That's why I rely on TV and online viewing. However, the scientists never get enough because their equipment and knowledge keeps getting better.
