Lexar no more!

In the recent past we've seen many sales for Lexar products, such as for example, a 32GB CF card for around 20 bucks and so forth, now I guess why. Lexar is going out of business (everything from flashdrives, memory cards/readers etc.), just everything Lexar does, it will be no more!
I'm sorry to hear that, I'm sure they will be missed!

They probably won't be going out of business. My guess is that Western Digital will gobble them up. WD is huge and has taken over many companies.

The parent company, Micron, is closing down the Lexar division and might even sell it off. They want to concentrate on other lines of business. Someone may buy the Lexar business, who knows.

Both of my card readers are by Lexmark; I guess I'll need to find another supplier.

Why? Your existing lexar products won't stop working just because the company no longer manufactures them. If it has failed or is missing some (new) capability you want, then find a suitable replacement. Otherwise just continue to use them as you have been doing.

Exactly. I purchased one. Then I purchased a second one. Having purchased two of them in ten years, most likely I will have to purchase another one, and I would like to identify a good choice so I don't have to make hurried choice then.

Not a rumor.
Read the press release from Micron HERE.

I wonder if Micron, the parent company, is using the General Electric "playbook" these days - get out of any business if you cannot be a dominant presence in it; I was surprised at the number of different brands of SD card carried by B&H.

Ouch, I use the Lexar USB hub and a CF/SD insert along with a slew of SD/CF cards by them. Wait....might be a good time to monitor sales on their products :)

Yes - saw that last night. Micron used to make computers, too. I owned several, but they decided to stop making them. I guess the Lexar warranty isn't going to be worth much now.

Too bad. I have a slew of Lexar CF memory for my D810 and Lexar SD memory for my E-M1. I hope they'll still work after Micron abandons the Lexar division. I'll be sure to download all images to my computer on the weekend. Whew - close call! :)

I have CF's and SD's that are exclusively Lexar and they work fine. But, I won't tell them that their parent company is going out of business and, hopefully, they'll continue to perform.

Lexar may go away. Sandisk is still in business and they invented the things.
