Welcome to Day 171 :) The subject for today is Around the Block. Now I know some of you live in the country and don't actually have a *block* to walk around .. so let's make it about your neighborhood. Things close to home that you see everyday. My neighborhood is really boring .. I had to go around the block twice before I decided to go a different direction and just post some interesting things I found on my walk. So here are some examples to get us started .. I look forward to seeing what y'all come up with.

Bullfrogs
HDR Wagon Wheel
Spooky House
Waitin for the Fish
Fortunately I live right on the edge of town and out back is a hay field and a barn and down below is the river. Our block is dull! I'll take pics of ''my'' neighbourhood instead. OK?
I live really close to the lake. Wished I could have caught the way this really looked. By the time I got my camera out it was already changing. The clouds had opened up and it had turned the whole lake a beautiful silver.

I have a dinner thing this eve, so this may be it. Last night I got this leaf that blew in on the porch after a hard rain, and my faithful if not too active porch photography assistant. My typical evening neighborhood.
Short Lived
Rowdy Yates
beautiful sunset and fisherpeeps

My "block" is 7 miles around and because of this assignment, discovered some interesting things in those 7 miles. Have cut the "list" twice. Hope you won't be bored. Like "Smoken", gone most of day again
.
Start here and a take a right out of our driveway ("dooryard")
You'll pass the horse farm and the fields next to it planted in strawberries, potatoes and corn
They sell from this little "on your honor" shack - notice the lock box.
Town Farm Rd. - every town used to have a town farm where the poor folks could farm some common land for their winter food.
An old map on the town's building tells the story of the '47 forest forest fires that went through Maine (including Bar Harbor) and shows the parts of the town that were impacted.
The Municipal building down the Town Farm Road - over looks a pond and rec. fields.
Our Monument to Hollis Vets.
The Gazebo is the site of weddings etc. If you are 15 years old or younger, you can fish in the pond
Local elementary school needs some work - it is across the road from the Municipal building
Next comes the biggest cemetary in town.
Around the bend and a rushing stream going deep into the woods. Never noticed this stream before.
Turning on to a major route - repaving and almost half way around
Passing horse farms and house that was once a beauty.
We've turned another corner, driven through the woods, and the STOP sign is the intersection of our road.
We have several fire trucks. This one happened by.
Hay fields all around
And 7 miles later, back home again.
almost as good as being there...NOT...so wish I could come for a visit...pick some corn, make some strawberry jam...looks so nice. oops you still posting..i better sit back and enjoy the tour
