I have been lusting after a Nikon D500, and am making a well informed choice that's what I want. I have a D5500, and have had a D7000. A couple of weeks ago there were sales all over the internet for Nikon D500 plus camera grip for $ 1750 or so. I was waiting for some consulting work bucks I had coming in to make the purchase. The bucks have shown up, but the D500 price has jumped back to closer to $ 2K, and the camera grip is about $ 375 in reputable places. In the experience of the group, have I just missed an opportunity, or will the Nikon D500 + Grip package show up again on sale in the ballpark that was much more favorable? I guess I am asking if in UHH reader experience there are seasonal waxings and wanings of the price of camera equipment?

The camera grip advertised to be included is most likely an off-brand. I went to my camera store and got a better deal: camera, Nikon grip AND 16-80mm f/2.8-4 lens for right around 2K. The lens is $600 new, I think; so I was happy with the purchase.
This combination is awesome!!!
I think if you can be patient you will see similar prices again. It seems that Nikon had many of its DSLRs on sale including the matching Nikon battery camera grip for free. If you want a heads up when it goes on sale place it in a Wish List on B&H video and they will alert you via email when the price drops.

For the D500 I think it will show up again. For the D750 and D810 I don't think it will ever show up again.
I missed the sale from a couple of weeks ago....I really wasn't looking....but Nikon typically has a sale in February or March.
I'm waiting to see if Nikon comes out with a new camera in the D8XX series. The D500 looks awfully good, but I'd hate to pick one up and have an awesome camera come out in the 800 series. There are also lenses to consider.
If you aren't in a big hurry, they are very likely to have appealing sales in November for the start of the holiday season.

The deal was from Nikon and was the same at all legitimate Nikon dealers. Nikon deals don't include off brand grips or grey market products.

Thanks to you all for the quick and informative replies. My wife and I share a good range of of Nikon crop sensor lenses, so I will be patient and hope Nikon reintroduces the deal I like.
Nikon has their instant rebate periods from time to time. The Nikon D500 + grip deal won't necessarily be offered again in the next instant rebate period. It could be other good deals. Often, the deal will be for a camera and lens bundle.

The price dropped before Father's Day, not unusual. Look for price drops on everything before holidays.

Another option might be to check B&H and other camera outlets for used/refurbished gear. They offer a variety of grades and incentives.

Nikon dropped camera prices and added a free Nikon battery grip during the winter holiday season and again before a Father's Day. The company seems to have the promotions when gifts are bought for men.
