We got Opie last October at 10 weeks. I contacted many Brittany breeders but the waiting lists were long and the preference was to place their puppies in hunting or show homes. Even being on the list didn't guarantee a puppy. As it turned out, there was a wonderful breeder within 30 miles of our home in Arizona (that through a series of unexpected events) that had a puppy available. We named Opie after the child TV star in Mayberry RFD (Ron Howard) because of his freckles and sweet nature. Right now Opie is going through adolescence but this too shall pass! Opie will be a year old in July.

Great pictures, and a beautiful dog. Your pictures capture the character and personality of Opie. The first two really do it for me!

Cute dog, I am sure a very special friend. Congratulations
Brittany's are sweet dogs. And like you pointed out, they are the breed with the most dual champions (Show Ring plus Field Champion). I had one for 15 years and he was very mellow. His full sister from a different litter won "Best of Opposite" at the Westminster Dog Show some ten plus years ago and she was a dual champion. It was great to watch him work - I would put out a small piece of freeze dried liver in the yard and let him find it. He would catch the scent and work his way towards it by going into the breeze and back and forth through the cone of scent off of the treat. With a treat he would not point but he did like to point groundhogs. I do not hunt so he never got to really work. Yours is a beautiful dog.
What a beauty he is! In the first shot he truly does have a precious "Opie" look!
Opie thanks everyone for your comments and compliments :) I thank you too!
Opie is long in his length with long legs too. So now he is able to counter/table surf and pick up what interests him from those surfaces. Between that and his lack of leash manners (he pulls like a steam engine) we still have more training and work to do. But outside of that he is easy to live with and a good companion.
Love the one with his "backlit" ears! What a pretty pup.
