Yep, we had that in a college course on History of Brit Empire.... First exam for this guy from HS who had to memorize dates and names only! devastating! ... the first exam was "from the view point of the Boer's, discuss..... " OUCH flunked the exam.... ended up passing course.

The horse is an Olympic Athlete with such muscles and control as your photo shows.... The man had lots of equipment indeed and such detail ....

A wonderful memorial. I believe it's important to include the animals who aided our soldiers during wars and times of peace. Just look at our troops bringing home animals from the Middle East today.

Great capture of a important memorial. Thanks for sharing.

I like this memorial-thanks for sharing. I looked up the Boer War on-line. I didn't realize how much Australia had fought in the war. Very interesting history!

Excellent piece of work. When was the last time you thought of the Boer War?? Or even remember what it was about?

I think of it quite often. My great grand father, William James Lindore, Australian, fought in same. He is buried in Taree, NSW, with a special bronze marker showing his honorable AU WWI service too! 🌹
Lest we forget!

The sculpture is almost life like with it's detail.
Look up the "Animals in War" Memorial in London which pays tribute to all animals in war and their contributions. The most striking and lasting impression to me when I saw it was a simple inscription on the Memorial: "...They had no choice."
