I was out in the yard practicing with my macro rig, looking for small insects when this little guy kept flying around me and landing on a nearby table as if to be saying "Come take my picture". I finally gave in and took my rig over to the table. 3 ft away-click, he didn't fly away! Closer, click, closer, click. Had to take my camera off the tripod to get even closer until the final face to face (1:1) shot! Then he flew away. As I have never been able to get this close to a butterfly it was a great finish to the day!
Taken with Nikon D90, 105D micro Nikkor, ISO 200, f22, 1/200 with Nikon R1 close up flash unit. (1:1 was at f32)

Number 1 is my favorite. I had never seen this butterfly and I gasped when I saw the fantastic colors in his wings. The pattern reminded me of tapestry.
