Captured this handsome bird at one of our local ponds while out for my morning walk.
All of my bird shots on UHH were taken within a 10 mile radius of my home. Until I got the SX50, and started shooting images of birds, I had no idea that there is such a variety in our area.
Lucky me.

SX50 camera was used. 1/320 sec - F6.5 - ISO 80

DOWNLOAD view is suggested.

I really like that. Birds never stand still for me. Low ISO makes a difference, doesn't it?

Very nice shot...have seen them but never been able to get a good image.

For all the heavy expensive gear we haul around the sx50 is a great camera.

Kissel,
Thanks for the comment. ISO has been the most troublesome for me. But it does help to keep it in the low range. The SX50 has a hard time with lowlight. Sometimes luck is a very good thing.

Nice shot. We have several pair nesting not too far from my home. Love to watch them fly in and out with nesting material. They are really beautiful birds.
