I was going through my father's old stuff and came across this lens which he avoided using (too heavy). It is in mint condition. No other identifying marks (except serial number and "made in Japan" ) are on the front ring. What is this lens worth? I am a Nikon D300s user, so I don't think I can use it. Thank you.

Hello Silver,
If it is a good lens you can buy adapters to match it to your Nikon and get some good use from some good glass. Otherwise you can put it on E bay and see what happens. These adapters are readily available at Amazon.
I use all of my old Minolta lens on my T3i from 8mm to 400mm with converters. They are of course manuel focus and f stop.

Hi If you consider selling I would be interested in lens. The mount has to be changed completely for my application for a DSLR --labor intensive but I think it can be done.
Thanx JB

Not true - there are MC/MD-to-Nikon adapters available for about $35.

I would not be using on a Nikon so would modify as needed.
Thanx JB

I haven't decided if I want to sell it yet. I would at least like to try the lens with an adapter on my D300s first just to see what it can do. The 58mm focal length is not what I commonly use. Thank you.

Hope it works for you--does the adapter have an optical element?
Please keep me in mind if you decide to sell. Although I don't use Nikon cameras I modify Nikon lens for my Pentax cameras --there are some good ones!

I just started to research adapters and I've read that those with optical element (allowing infinity focus) can degrade image. Recommendations are appreciated. Thank you.

Bob,
I purchased them on Amazon.com cameras, adapters etc. They run about $18-40. Some have glass in them some don't. Depending on the lens and its internal make-up, there can be some vignetting with some of them, tho not all. And do not overlook the Telescope 32mm to (Your Camera) adapter which enables your camera to be directly coupled to your telescope, If the telescope is capable of using eyepieces.
I use my Old Film Olympus and Old Canon lens the same way

Bob Let me assure you I would not do anything until I had educated myself about the adapters and purchased one to at least see if I like the effect of each lens. I found the 135/f2 to be great on the T3i. Of course there are some lens
that have less than stellar performance with the digital format. The Teleconverters make soft photos but are good for somethings.

I got that lens for my wife's minolta in '74 and was lost in a burglary in '08. It cost us over $350 to replace just the lens. [She still shoots film once in a while and likes to have her old friend] Anyhow it is fast glass. Don't sell it short.

silveragemarvel, the lens is completely worthless, honest. Just send it to me and I'll find a use for it.
