Is anyone currently using the sigma 120-300 sports lens. I shoot baseball and hockey. I am considering buying this lens and either a used 1dx or a new 5dmkiii would appreciate any feedback.

BUY IT. I purchased one Last May for my Nikon D810, I used it the first time for spring High School football, next was bears in the mountains. It is my goto sports and wildlife lens. It is also the first non Nikon lens I have purchase in over 30 years. There is a attachment that you can purchase so that you can program you lens to your specific camera. Mine was already programed for the D810. I was also fortunate to purchase my used. The person that purchased org. used it once and brought it back to the store and traded for a smaller lens, It was more than he could handle. Just remember use a tripod or monopod. It is to much to hand hold, at least for me.

I have used it for over 4 years and consider it the ultimate sports lens!

I have had this lens for about 4 years now and love it. I photograph my grandkids soccer games with a Canon 7D MKII. The only negative to this lens is that it is heavy.

Don, I have used this lens several times on a Canon 7d Mk2 and it is great. I have always rented and plan to buy. The only minor draw back is the weight, it is a monster. Try it as a rental first and see what you think. Happy shooting.

The lens MAY be right but the body is not. The new Nikon D500 is the newest, most advanced focusing system on the market. It has GROUP AUTO FOCUS that is simply the best. And, if you like spending money, why not go D5. And, speaking of spending money, now you can get both cameras in the limited issue 100th anniversary models.

The latest issue of one of the British photography magazines did a test on mid-range zooms where the Nikon 70-200's came out on top - but the Sigma 120-300 had almost the same IQ numbers !

I guess you could use this lens - Canon version - on a Sony mirrorless with the Sigma adapter ! ? A9 maybe ??
