We read all the stories here about the stupid stuff we have done with our cameras.
The worst for me was laying on my belly on the edge of a hill, then sliding face first into the mud/muck/water/pond, but I kept the camera up over my wet, muck covered head.
Yesterday. I'm out in a marsh going to shoot birds.
It was hot, the green head flies were buzzing me. I was miserable..
The camera wouldnt cooperate. I needed 1/1000 of a second maybe faster. The camera wouldn't go past 1/350.
Now if I read where YOU were having that problem I would immediately know why.
For some reason, sitting in the hot sun, with the camera in my lap, my brain wasn't functioning . I went thru every setting I could think of,
I even did the two button reset. Still wouldnt go past 1/350th
Most of you will know why this happens. So I'm NOT going to tell you what stupid thing I did to correct it.
Trust me I knew better, I corrected it and off I went.
Maybe the newbies will read this, and some of the comments and will learn and wont make the same stupid mistake.

Was it something to do with flash?
I don't think it had anything to do with the sun..., I think it was the flies.
Nothing that staying home wouldn't cure!!!! LoL

Either the flash sync or ISO?
It had nothing to do with the flies or the sun.
On my camera there is a way to limit the upper ISO setting when you switch to Auto ISO.
That's my best guess, you've limited your upper ISO setting, and you accidently switched to Auto ISO because your lighting conditions were changing as your subjects moved around.
Limited light resulted in the slower shutter speed!

This post was like reading a bad book and then this bad book had an even worse ending. It doesn't get much worse, well, maybe this guy will post some thing similar again and then it will get worse.
Oh those green heads can really bite, I can see how you could get disoriented.
You had the camera set to shutter priority.
Ah come on, tell us what you did/didn't do.
I've had that happen to me with the Fuji X-T2 more than once actually. The speed is set/controlled by a dial on the camera which in turn has to be changed from that dial. Was it that simple?

I have never done a stupid thing in my entire life. Every thing I have ever done was perfect--- Those just may have been the 2 stupidest sentences I have ever written. I usually call stupid things that I have done -"Oh $hit" things.
Ha Ha! Welcome to the Absent Minded, Preoccupied, Careless, Non-Thinking, Non-Observant, Shooters Club!!! There are probably a lot more members here on UHH than will admit it!!
My D7000 can be set to high speed sync to enable shutter speeds above 1/350 and up to top speed of 1/8000. That's how I do it.
Every setting you could think of...
It was the one you couldn't think of!
