Thank You for the link. I did see that before, but I have not seen anything that indicates that Nikon approves that strap, other than my assumption that because there is a Nikon model that approval just might be applied. I still stand by what I said earlier that I don't consider this the best idea. Perhaps for a light body with a light lens, but not for a heavy body with a heavy lens like the new 70-200/2.8E To each his own I guess. As I also indicated, I do have one which I just don't use anymore. Perhaps I'll break it out again if I'm carrying something light. Thanks again.

Strange... none of the pictures show the camera hanging loose; his hand is on it in all cases. And if you think I'm attacking the strap, you're wrong; have your local technician show you how the tripod socket is attached to the camera.

I've been using a BR RS7 SLING Strap for a number of years and had no problems ever, in fact I'm at Disney world right now and using my 7D with 24-105 f4 L lens and with battery grip.

Wonderful, I hope you're having a great time; I sincerely do. I also hope you get the opportunity to put your camera aside and enjoy the experience. And I suggest you check the integrity of the bottom plate of your camera when you get home.

What I can tell you is Canons 7D is a solid body, lite metal construction including the battery grip, is of the same material, there is no worry of it coming apart.

And I've been told some of the Nikons are built the same way.

So do some research on Nikon and find out which are built that way.

I believe it's Magnesium alloy if my memory serves me.

The only reason I mention it is that I have a friend who is a camera repair technician (well trained, multiple schools; enjoys an excellent reputation and a wealthy clientele) who had a fit when he saw my D300 on a BR strap. Later he brought in six bottom plates that looked normal until he laid them on the counter. Each one was bowed just slightly, not enough to stop the camera operation, but enough to let in dirt and moisture. He had taken every one off an operating camera that he had taken in for a CLA. One was a Canon less than a year old, but the worst was a Nikon D7100 (what I shoot now) that had been bought refurbished less than six months before. He had seen it when it was first received and said it was better than most new cameras he had seen. He told me that tripod mounted straps were great for smaller DSLR's with light lenses, but that most of this damage was the result of two things: heavy lenses and people who dropped their cameras instead of lowering them slowly. My BR hand strap is now on my ZS60. I wish I could get him to make time for my CLE.
