There is a tremendous amount of detail here and the lighting is well thought out. The underside of the mushroom has plenty of light so that we can enjoy all that detail. An unusual image that does grab the viewer's attention. Well done.

Love the lighting and perspective. I was wondering, Don, what got you interested in this type of photography? It's so exacting and controlled, like an engineer or architect's mind. Or a background in biology, resulting in an appreciation for the design and details of nature? Please talk about how you came to this specialty of photography. Thanks!

This is a GREAT mushroom image. It is "minimalist", yet has great details. I LOVE the varying shades of gray that really make the subject stand out. Nice!

Thanks Linda.

Interest in gardening since 1974 (mainly Dahlias). Literally thousands of slides and negatives of various plants, very few of which would be considered good. Bachelor of Physical Education with math and physics majors plus some biology. Photoshop since version 4 (that's 4 not CS4). Attempts at focus stacking with PS mainly resulted in failures. Now I mainly use Helicon Focus 6 for that. The mushrooms come from the produce department, the flowers from the garden and nurseries.
