The Anwenk or Op/Tech belt stabilizer straps might be a solution. I am a beginner with a limited budget. (I know! Wrong hobby! Ha!) Thanks for suggestions.

I gave my Black Rapid camera strap to my son with the Canon T4i ... I got the Op/Tech for my Canon SX60 HS ... it seems to work a little better for me ... I got the wrist strap with the sling, the extra camera attachment stays with my second camera and the tether straps keeps the camera in place when needed ... recommend Op/Tech and would buy it again ... !

I use a Black Rapid. But I attached it to a RRS lever release clamp. With a long lens that has its own foot I attach the clamp to the foot and it not only takes the strain off of the lens mount but allows it to balance nicely. I have an L-bracket on the camera so I can also attach the clamp to it if I have a normal lens on. This leaves the camera free to attach to a tripod. Best of all worlds. Except for cost.

Yes. I was leary of the OpTech attachments--looked flimsy. Might be ok with a secondary tether. Thanks.

Actually not flimsy at all. They connect like an original strap.

I use a Sony A6000. No long, heavy lenses. I have been studying camera slings carefully. I want one that has a padded shoulder. And I would prefer that the camera slides up the strap---not one where the strap itself moves since I will often be wearing a backpack, jacket, tripod, etc. Thought I would prefer one that attached to the camera strap mounts instead of to the tripod mount so I could use a tripod without unhooking camera sling. Most slings attach at the bottom. I'm also concerned about the camera bouncing at my hip as I hike. The Anwenk or Op/Tech belt stabilizer straps might be a solution. I am a beginner with a limited budget. (I know! Wrong hobby! Ha!) Thanks for suggestions.

I have used Optech straps since 1982 to carry some VERY expensive gear, nothing "flimsy" about them at all. Their buckles are rated at 125# load.
I STILL use my original 1982 strap today and trust it implicitly!

I have to agree with MT and JimBob. No problems here and Optech is anything but flimsy. I suggest that the OP watch some of the short videos on their website.

I use a Peak Design camera strap too. It's a bit on the pricey side but very comfortable and secure. I thought the strap was a little on the bulky side until I used it. It isn't bulky at all but very fluid. It is wide however. And it supports my large lens. It is easy and quick to adjust the length of the strap while it is in place-first time I've ever been able to do that. It can attach to the camera lugs leaving the tripod plate free. It does not have a separate slide strap for the camera to slide up and down (separate from the main strap) but the whole strap itself moves quickly (if you have it on the slide side). I like it well enough to buy the Peak Design Lite for my Fuji X-T2 with its smaller lenses. And I have quit looking for better straps- that says a lot.

No need to be leary of OpTech. I've been using their straps since I first got my E-500 (Olympus) camera. Then for the E-5 (heavy camera, even more so with 50-200mm lens attached; my fingers and hands gave out, due to arthritis; the strap was great), now use it with E-M1. That's 11 or 12 years. Never had a problem.

i use an op tech sling strap, works well for me, bouncing is not a problem, just have to be careful when climbing up rocks as when you lean forward the camera can swing into the rocks. I put it on then my rain jacket/ windbreaker and backpack. the camera will go under the windbreaker to keep it out of the elements if needed.

My wife and I have also been using Op/Tech straps for years, even when I had a 5D Mk II and 24-105 attached and no problems at all.

Agreed. Op/Tech and Cotton Carriers are my camera carrying devices.

I use a Black Rapid on my D700 & have found it to be reliable. I am mostly a travel & landscape shooter & avoid (generally) trekking. This solution works for me, but as noted above, it is useful to check the tightness of the screw into the bottom of your camera regularly.

Good luck with your decision!

Peak Design can be attached to either the strap lugs or the tripod socket. I just carried an a6300 around Spain & Portugal using Peak Design Leash attached to the strap lugs. It worked great (I only used the kit lens). The only problem for you is that the entire strap moves when you raise the camera.
