I think it has great impact. Very original. They look like cardboard cut-outs.

It's one of those images that people will probably like or dislike on sight, and not be able to explain why.

That was my feeling too Min. I couldn't quite work out what it was that I liked about it myself, then I realised it reminded me of a cinema with the big picture towering over, and mimicing, late-comers.
Just another Ps trial - one day I might do something staggering, you never know!

I looked when there were no comments, then came back awhile later and chuckled over Minnie's mention of like/dislike and not know why.

My first impression was I didn't like it, but it's growing on me I love your reference to a cinema screen and latecomers, Dave, though I also get a bit of the aliens in the final scene of "Close Encounters of the Third Kind."

Its distinctive look held my interest enough to return and to think about it, so thank you for that!

Dave, this one in which we either love it or hate it. In my case, I love it, but I'm still trying to figure out if they are the shadows from the people below? I do see where one would get the impression of a cinema as it does come off as that. Could you tell us more about where, what and why of this image. I'm curious to the actual footage you experienced while composing this shot.

Ah, we have a penchant for aliens in my family Linda. Think you probably know why!

I was sorting out a few anomalies in my filing system and came across the original shot Dave. It's one of my 'walking the wall' snaps, some of which I've posted in the past. Every time I visit this spot I add a few more shots to my collection as the silhouetted figures fascinate me. Looking at the shot again, I decided the upper figures (the Harbour wall has two tiers) needed stretching a bit to fill the sky area better and thought about how to do that easily in Ps. Of course it's simple, and took just a few minutes, but I like the result. I imagined them looking like shadows of the lower figures and, to some extent, I think they do.
To achieve it, I made a rectangular selection of the top half and, using free transform, simply dragged the top up. Thanks for commenting on it Dave.

I'm glad I read the comments before I decide to chime in. I'm interested that you mentioned film and cinema. I can see this scene being an opening scene in an Alfred Hitchcock movie. I love the elongated shadows and the grain is perfect in this shot. Awesome.

Aaaaaaha! inspired by Bergman's The Seventh Seal. If you are going to be inspired, pick a master to be inspired by. So, yes, of course it appeals.

THE SEVENTH SEAL (Det sjunde inseglet, 1957, Ingmar Bergman)

I like it a lot--especially when I realized upon second look that these were shadows of the people walking below. The silhouettes are presented well with the browntones.

I think this photo is super-cool! I like this modern arty look, and it's not something we see every day.

I've not seen that one dp, but thanks for the heads-up, I'll ask Google! Glad you like it.

Not really shadows John, just happy coincidence (or an appearance as such). They are in fact silhouettes of people on the upper level of the wall. My thanks for looking and commenting, it's appreciated.

Thank you Edie, I'm glad you like the look - so far only Linda is unsure but I expected a lot more negatives.
