These are some recent pics I got of Snail Kites. They were taken on Lake Kissimmee from a pontoon boat. I used the Nikon D500 with the 300 mm f4 lens (old one with no VR) and the 1.4 tc. It was a great day on the water!

Wow thanks mindlessgeo! This is an interesting bird to this westerner and these are wonderful photos. You did a great job keeping things steady while shooting form the water. I appreciate this post.

Georgia,
These are fan-damn-tastic!
?..and from a pontoon boat, no less!
Really impressive, Ma'm!
Appreciate your mentioning the equipment used...and that bit about no VR..that was just pure-d braggin' !
Great work.

Something I've never understood...how come a raptor that hunts, chases down, captures, and defeats in dangerous battle the fearsome, ferocious...er...um..... SNAIL....still gets to look so damned fierce?

Dave

Michael, thank you! They are endangered and don't go much farther north I don't think.

Hi, again, Georgia,

Here's the 3D conversion prepared from your image#4 of a kite in-flight. I'm glad the 3D effect so well complements the original image!

Many thanks for your permission to use your image for demonstration/illustrative purposes.

Be sure to view the downloaded image! Really impresxive. I'm eager to hear feed-back from other viewers!

Dave

Hi, Georgia,
Here is a e3D conversion of your close-up of a flying snail kite.
The 3D effect is strong and impressive, thanks in large part to the head and wing positions you captured.

Be sure to view the download.

remember, the top pair is for parallel gaze view, the bottom pair is for crossed gaze viewing.
