After watching Donna and Angela, I had to give it a try, however I did mine a little different, I placed my 24 X24" soft box back behind the flower (NOT LIGHT BOX) set @ full power, another off camera flash in front of the flower set @ 1/8 + 7ev power.
After setting the shutter and ISO and getting where I liked it in the camera, I shot a three shot bracketed exposure +-5 ev.
I then did a 3 shot HDR tone mapping into one picture, but didn't stop there, In On1 Raw I replaced the background with a light tan color burn overlay. After looking at the white background and the light tan background ether one will work just fine, I think the color background just adds a little more to the picture.
What do you think?
IMHO, It adds interest to the shot. BB
Spectacular work, Johnny, and I agree with you about the background. I love it, and I think it's good for us to try out techniques presented by other people but to develop our own style like you've done here.
I love it, Johnny! It sounds like a bit of work and probably over my head, but the end result makes it worth the effort.

Thank you very much Donna, and I agree with you, there are a number of ways to process it, What I think JMO I think the bright white BG takes away from the flower a little to much, but again both will work just fine.

Thank you so much Carol, It is a bit of work to drag equipment out side, then back in, but I've been wanting to do this for a while, I thought it was worth it and learn something on the way.
Thank you much Earl, Appreciate it!!!!
Love this, Johnny and after reading what you did, I have no clue!!! LOL... but love the result!!!
But I have a question, I'm looking at this on my tablet.. the same tablet that I always see the imperfections on my backgrounds. I see white on both sides of the flower mid way down... do you see it, or does my tablet have xray vision!!?

Thank you Angela, You need to look at it on your computer Angela, Yes the white is there it's there from color burning and dodging, The BG is not solid, it is toned just to add color to the image instead of being all white.
when you shot your picture you used a light box, I used this by placing the flash soft box behind the flower, had I shot indoors I would have put the flower in front of the soft box just like you did.

Thanks for this info.... but when I shot my flowers, I layed them down on a piece of white plexi with lights underneath, then do a lot of touch up on the pc.
Tomorrow I'll look at your shot on my pc and see if I can see the white like I do on my tablet.
That is right, that's what is called a light box, this is softbox.
