I will be going to the Grand Teton and and Yellowstone NP later this month. I was wondering what are some good locations in both parks to visit and take some pictures. It will be my first time to either park.
Welcome to the forums.
It's all extremely good.
In the Grand Tetons we particularly enjoyed Cascade Canyon trail and Jenny Lake.
In Yellowstone;
Along the Yellowstone River was great as was the Firehole basin.
The Beaver ponds trail was nice.
Be sure to allow enough time and get away from the roads and crowds.
I would recommend a visit to Lake Jackson, and either a stay at, or at least a visit to Grand Teton Lodge. I'd also suggest a raft trip on the Snake River. Enjoy!

I like the thermal features, and a tour I took a few years ago concentrated on that. Lucky me!
There will be photo opportunities around every corner! The Grand Teton Lodge is a good place to start. In Yellowstone, just get off the beaten path once in a while and take in the beauty. A week there won't do it justice! My 70-200 got a work out! Enjoy!
I suggest looking on Amazon for a book I got on taking photos in Yellowstone. It has maps and places of interest and suggests times of day, settings, and other techniques for various places. Sorry, I am out of town, and do not have the title handy, but I think you can find it easily. There are also some guides on Grand Teton. I am going to both parks also in late August, so I look forward to any tips you have as well from your visit! Henry.

I second the suggestion for a Snake River raft trip! I did it in 2009 and had a great time.

Anywhere in Yellowstone is a great photo-op. I also took a Snake River raft trip and snapped a moose on the river bank. Very exciting! Have a great time.
We were in YNP and GTNP this past September. Some of the highlights for us are listed below. You can google them for more info:
GTNP
Mormon Row (historic buildings/barns with mountains in background)
Shwabacher Landing (very impressive)
Oxbow bend (good for sunrise)
Yellowstone
Firepot Drive
Artist Point (can get crowded)
Old Faithful
Hayden Valley
If you have the time....Exit NE Entrance and take Chief Joseph Hwy to Big Horn Scenic Hwy. Big Horn Scenic Hwy was a surprise as we did not know much about it. We were very impressed. It is a long drive but if you can spare the time worth it. If you don't have the time, no worries as you really cant go wrong. Beauty is everywhere.
Have a great trip!

Thanks for all the replies. Really looking forward to the trip.
Hi, Obwan!
Consider visiting Cody, if you have an extra day.
When we visited YS a few years ago, and CODY was not in our itinerary. We made a spur-of-the-moment decision to visit CODY because we were almost done in Yellowstone. Much to our surprise, by-ways are very picturesque.
We even stopped to do a horse back-riding at one of those stalls along the highway--this is if you like to be taken all the way up to the hills and watch your horse trek those (not so) narrow trails. It was a great experience for me and my sons. My guide told me later that the horse I rode on was a tamed :(-
Horse back-ridding + picturesque byways = worthwhile! Not sure though if others who had been to CODY feel the same. :)-
Hi, Obwan. We enjoyed our hike to Inspiration Point at GTNP--you might like it.
I also sent a separate reply, suggesting that you also consider CODY if you have an extra day. The road to CODY is so picturesque! Try to visit their Museum, too.

I will second Cody and Chief Joseph hwy. The Beartooth is worth the drive as well out of North Yellowstone.
