Thank you for sharing these beautiful photos. I watched a Pearl Harbor special on Memorial Day. They said that about nine quarts of oil per day rises up from the Arizona. Pearl Harbor must never be forgotten.

When I was there in the 60's I remember the Arizona Memorial people inviting Elvis to come to the islands for a show, and I believe he did. It wasn't until much later than I saw a photo of the actually memorial the way it stands today. It's a fitting tribute and a wonderful thing these people did to remember the "Arizona".
God love them one and all.

You did remarkable work capturing this tribute to a day that will live in infamy. Thank you for sharing these beautiful images, Dr. Nikon.

I had the privilege of being at Pearl Harbor and witnessed the dedication ceremony. Following the ceremony I was invited by Fr. Walter Mahler (Navy Chaplain I worked for
when I was a USMCWR) to attend a tea where he did the invocation. I have slides of these events. Your pictures bring back cherished memories. 🇺🇸

Thnx everyone for your wonder replies ...,
IT was a pleasure and an honor to be there on Memorial Day .. they raised the colors at 8am and there was a tear in my eye as I was passing the flag area taking picture when the bugle sounded .. I froze in place started to take pictures of the colors going up and then stopped ..., this was the first time there was a tear drop like the drop of oil raising up from The Arizona ... I was overcome by the moment .., I was a little taken back by the low turn out.., but there was quality rather than quantity ... just about everyone was a patriot ...

I go often as this sacred place is in my backyard ...., as well as Puncbowl .., where sometimes I walk up from my place to just to clear my head and talk to those who lay beneath my feet ..

Thnx again for looking ..
