Survival.......have you ever given any consideration about what you would or could do????

I'm always amazed by these "survivalists" that think these tactics will work and seem to forget the most important thing. Yes you can store goods or grow a remote garden, but that will succumb to one thing. The animal instinct to survive by others. If faced with starvation have you ever considered what a mother or father would do to feed their children? Yes you can arm yourself and kill some but they will keep coming until you run out of ammo or you will be overrun. Would you really shoot someone begging for food? You will eventually become the food. There are a lot of moral issues to consider. You are also making the assumption that some would care to survive. You cannot hide from an apocalypse. No movie I know has shown the reality of the issue.

There was a very interesting book by
William R. Forstchen named "One Second After" which poses the question of what would happen if a EMF attack succeeded against the US. In the book all electronic devices were disabled and the chaos thet followed. Story takes place outside Ashville,NC in the foothills. Great read couldn't put it down. No communications, no power, only vehicles that worked were made before the 70's. No banking, food supply was shut down. awsome read.

This all reminds me of the TV series "Jericho"(canceled), which ran from 2006 t0 2008. I thought that was a fairly good account of what would happen in the US in the event of a nuclear attack. Any one remember that show?

God took care of his "First Survival Family" (Noah's). Does anyone think they can out-survive what is coming?

There's a show on cable called "Doomsday Preppers" and sometimes the ideas so-called survivalists have are so stupid you can't believe they can't see how stupid. Somebody puts a garden, or piled up survival packaged foods under a tarp, in their drained swimming pool and thinks they're ready. Somebody has a rented storage space several blocks from their city apartment and thinks they're going to drive the family there and stock up to leave town if something bad happens. Where are they going? Isn't everybody else going to be doing the same thing? No plan...
Yet there are some who buy underground missile silos that were abandoned by the government and build 6,000 square foot luxury homes full of years of supplies 40 stories below the ground surface and have built in generation, plumbing, wells, etc. that could literally sustain them in a invasion-proof environment for years. Others are having custom-built underground steel homes built that can withstand virtually any intrusion attempt. But they put their generator and other utilities like water pump above ground where they can be stolen easily.
The question though is still - how long will the bad event you survived continue making ground level uninhabitable and when you run out of stuff, then what?
My brother has semi-prepared for about 6 months of off-grid isolation in case of economic collapse with packaged foods and some water and a low rpm diesel generator with additional solar panels connected to a digital control system to store power in a batch of marine batteries and run major appliances, the water pump, TV and radio, a few lights, etc. He has plenty of diesel fuel and feels he could exist with no outside contact for 6 months or so. He also has an array of guns for self-protection.
