On New Weeds and Old Knees

I promised this fellow I'd find *yet another weed* to photograph.  I did but it was too windy for pictures and the next day its bloom had closed up for good.  No worries --  a different one appeared that I'd never before seen or noticed.  As usual, I have no idea what it is.

The flowers are tiny little guys -- pixel count @ 1:1 show that the one on the right in the photo is only about 5 mm wide -- less than 1/4".

DIY diffused-flash lighting: again, this was via my adapted potato salad container.

Full disclosure:  the plant emerged through some stuff that left a lot of debris sticking to its leaves and flowers so I had to spend some time in Photoshop spotting the photo to remove most of those specks, etc. -- too distracting when viewing the plant & flowers, for me anyway.

... Notes ...
o f/32 -- w/o the possibility of focus stacking, DOF was far more important than losses from diffraction for this subject . I've found from experimenting that it is nearly impossible to tell where the practical "tipping point" is for that consideration. I suspect it would be more objectionable for some subjects than others and also depend upon the photo's published size or purpose.

o Another interesting compromise -- finding a plane of focus that would illustrate what was wanted and still provide a decent composition ... and before these old knees on the ground began complaining any worse.

The picture is successful, and you are right about the composition. But do you see the insect (a midge) in the background?

On the big leaf just under the taller blossom.
