Hi,

Has anyone had any experience with the Canon EOS60D camera; I'm contemplating making the investment, but want to do further research before doing so.

Please let me know...thanks,
Penny

There is a guy on youtube: DigitalRev: He does a review on the 60D and a couple of comparison videos with the T3i and the Nikon D7000. Very funny and informative.

I think a large portion of your decision depends on what body you are upgrading from (if you are upgrading at all).

If you're talking strictly Canon and have a 50D, checking the comparison on cnet.com or canonusa.com will give you good info.

If you are looking to change from another manufacturer to the latest Canon bodies, then you need to look at the 50D, 60D, and the 7D. (the Canon 5DMk2 is in a different category pricewise and performancewise as is the 1D series.

Personally, I went from a 40D to the 7D, but since its a pretty good investment, time spent on research is well worth it.

And lastly, some Canon lenses don't fit some Canon bodies, so there is that to consider as well.

Just my 2cents :)

In May 2011 I upgraded from an XTi to the 60D. I can only describe it in one word - WOW

I just upgraded to the 60D and love everything about it. Lighter and easy to handle, good buttons and placement, great LCD....can't say anything bad!

I have one and LOVE IT! The rotating back comes in real handy in camera live mode. I can't imagine ever needing to upgrade to another camera.

I upgraded from the 50D to the 60D for the primary reason of having the articulated viewing screen. I have had both hips replaced and can no longer get down to have the proper perspective in a shot. (well, I can down but can't get back up) I love the 60D and for the type of photography I do, it should last me a long time. I don't believe you can go wrong with it.

Like a few in this string, I upgraded to a 60d from a XSi. The sensor is huge and the tilt lcd screen great. Buy, don't look back. Hopefully you didn't miss the Canon rebates. Then again, this is September, which is usually Canon's introduction month.

The 60D is an excellent piece of equipment, and is highly recommended by nearly all review sites. But only you can tell if its the best camera for your expected needs. For example, will its video capabilities be important? The 7D and the 60D both have a video mode, which, when was looking to upgrade from my 3-year old XTi, I didn't need. I ended up with a 50D.

Nearly any modern DSLR will be technically excellent. Your lens selection is really far more important in the long run. Money spend on quality lenses is almost never wasted, whereby camera models get upgrades and fall out of favor every couple of years.
