On this Memorial Day. I would like to say thank you to all service members living and deceased. It is because of your sacrifice we are living in the greatest country on earth. Please let us not forget the brave souls who fought, died and were wounded for what they believed.
May almighty God bless each and everyone of you.

Sincerely,

Bernie O'

That reminds me of the guy that told his wife that he just got a call and he thought it was meant for the coast guard station. Because the guy asked if the coast was clear.

I'm a Vietnam era Navy Pilot but my missions were all embarrassingly safe and non-threatening.

On the other hand, my father managed to make it to both Pearl Harbor and Normandy as a sailor. He made it home. He left a diary of his experience on a battleship at the Normandy invasion. I've transcribed it to a .pdf. I email it to anyone who asks. If interested, send me a PM with an email address.

Bernie O,
Thank you so very much for posting such a powerful set of magnificent photos. It's so important to remember those who have fallen and fought for our freedoms. To remember those who continue to serve here and around the world. And those who have bravely served and returned home to their families, friends and communities. Also, we must not forget those veterans who have returned injured, physically, mentally or in any ill way, who have been forgotten by the country who relied on their service so much during our time of need. We need to remember Memorial Day is not a day for shopping for the best sale prices, but a day to remember and thank the HEROES who have fought, served and sadly died for our rights.
Thanks again for your amazing post.

I too am a Navy Korean Vet.(non-combat) Having served from 1951-1955 active duty and 1955-1959-reserve time. Never saw Korea because the repear ship I was on was attached to the 6th fleet in the Atlantic and Mediterranean.

Thanks for the post. (Army Mar 66-Jan 69, Nam Dec 66-Jan 69.)

Thanks to all of you who served.

A 4 plane formation of what looked like "Texans" doing the "Missing Man" formation just passed over my house low headed for March Air Base and the Riverside National Cemetery next to it where they are having services today. I am about 1/2 way between March and the Chino "Planes of Fame" museum which has a lot of flyable planes and holds regular events with planes from all over.

Thank you for posting these, Bernie O'! We don't have anyone who died in the service, but our son is a 20-year Navy Corpsman retiree who was awarded the Bronze Star. He struggled with PTSD. He's doing very well now and is administrator of a medical practice.
