Aloha,
I read a lot on this site about all the techno that goes along with taking pictures. Truth be for me, I am pretty sure the camera I have would wash my dishes had I not lost the book. It is just a Nikon Coolpix something fancy. So I am taking in some information provided here regarding the settings, shadows, APO, IPO and FBI's to shooting. Though What I have submitted prior and what will be submitting now are just my point and clix... I do not edit anything I do not have any software for that to date. Can always hope. You can always google the manual for your camera. These shots aren't too bad for a start. They are slightly out of focus, though. The flower shot seems to be a little overexposed. I too am dependent on help from this forum. So keep practicing and find that manual!

I think the COOLPIX has an exposure lock. I would have locked the exposure on the horse's body and then recomposed the whole shot. That way the range of values would have been better. Carefully setting the exposure and using the zoom, I've had some pretty good shots with the COOLPIX.

I should have mentioned that the exposure lock is activated by pressing down HALF WAY on the shoot button.
