Help me as I am panicked! Is It My Camera setting or Photoshop?

I have a Nikon D 7000 and shoot in Raw format and have been doing this for quite some time. I use Photoshop Elements 9 and today, for the first time when importing my images, they appear to load and then an error message appears- "Files or folders selected did not contain any supported file types." I tried this both on my laptop and desk top and the same message appeared. Strangely enough the images did download on Picasa. Any help you can offer will be much appreciated. Thank you.

My first guess, based on what you wrote here, is that it's an issue with Elements 9. Now, I've a question to ask in reply. Has there been a recent update to Elements, particularly Adobe Camera Raw that you've installed?

Check what version of camera raw plugin you have for elements - it must be 6.3 or later to support the D7000 raw files.

If the ACR version is below 6.3 you can either update Elements 9 to ACR 6.5 or buy a more current version of Elements

You can also convert the Nikon NEF files from the D7000 to DNG files with Adobe's free DNG converter which will then allow Elements 9 to open and edit them.

I would try converting the RAW files to DNG using Adobe DNG Converter. It's free to download and use. I'm guessing your Elements 9 app will import them. Set up a work folder on your desktop, copy the NEFs into that, convert them, and then import them into Elements 9. You might have a corrupted codec in 9 that affects only NEF files. The problem is not your camera setting, or Picasa wouldn't show them either.

There haven't been any new updates. I tried to import the images on both my laptop as well as my desktop. I'm wondering if it's an issue with my camera. Thank you for your response.
