reading UHHer EdGorm using two cameras and it looks as if there are two different lens, can they be stitched into a pano and what program would be used? Are both cameras the same format (APS-C/FF)? Could mixed formats be stitched?

Good question. My guess, only if you can match Perspective & Magnification, i.e., be able to set up to take the "same" image with both cameras and lenses. Everything in the overlapping portions would have to match for distance to one another and size. Therefore noting the 1.5x factor between say Nikon and Pentax APS-C vs. FF, use a 50mm Lens on a FF and a 35mm Lens on a CF (for Canon try 35mm and 55mm). My numbers are based on using Primes lenses, if you can get it to work with Zooms you can get closer numbers but other problems are introduced. All this also means you have to match Depth of Field and WB. This is what I feel needs to be done to use Photoshop. Not easy and why are you asking?

I've made panos where the light changes slightly and that can make everything look a bit weird too. If you are going to make any sort of panorama I'd suggest forgetting about polarizing filters as directional differences in skies look weird enough. What I would have to try myself is trying to stitch images from two similar cameras using the same lens. Easy but one would have to still stand in the same place in this case.

Other UHH'ers may know some tricks or specialized equipment to accomplish what you are asking.

This apparently can be be done. Here is a web site describing it. I have not tried this. And it looks a bit involved. But it looks like it can be done.

I imagine you would have to crop each of the photos to display the approximate same focal length before stitching them together. The only problem I can see is that pics taken at a wider angle focal length would not have as much fine detail as the pics taken with a longer (eg more telephoto) focal length.

lamiaceae, JimH123, Bobspez, Thanks for your replies. I was just wondering after looking at the rig setup that EdGorm showed a picture of here on UHH. He is also using a "trigger" to be able to catch some Lightning. He is using the same trigger for both cameras.
JimH123, The link did not post.
Thanks again,

I'd suggest a PM to Ed and see what he has to say. Since he's the one doing this, he'd be the expert. The rest of the replies are probably more of a crap shoot.
