I wanted to mention the Minniwanka Loop but couldn't remember its name. Two Jack Lake is very nice as is the lake further around the loop. One my absolute best landscapes was shot there in 1985 but you can't get the shot anymore since the roadside trees are too tall now.

If you want snow capped mountains, the Ice Fields Pkwy is terrific.

As for other parks, Kananaskis Country is excellent too. It's just south of Banff.

We were there in mid-July about 5 years ago and it is the most beautiful scenery we have ever seen. On your Icefields Parkway drive, make sure you take the short walk up to the Peyto Lake overlook; amazing. We are going back in the next year or two and are planning on going to Maligne Lake this time (not too far from Jasper). As previously mentioned, Moraine Lake and Lake Louise are beautiful. We stayed at the Rimrock hotel just above Banff and would do it again; it's built into the side of a mountain with amazing views (we never closed our curtains). If you have the time, I would recommend what we did. We went from Banff down to Whitefish MT, which is a beautiful drive too. Then we made a loop back north and east on the Crowsnest Highway to Waterton Lake and took the cruise on the lake (not to be missed), had lunch in Babb MT and then drove the Going to the Sun Road across Glacier National Park back to Whitefish. The only issue is when you're going; the road (Logan Pass) had only been open 5 days when we went in mid-July.

NOTE:
Others have mentioned many of the great photo opps so I won't repeat them. If you only want to see stuff that is an easy shot from roadside there are a number of pullout locations for sight seeing ... shoulder of the highway is not meant for this!). I don't recall seeing any others mention of the Lake Minnewanka Loop just opposite Banff off the Trans Canada Highway ... a scenic drive with high probability of encountering bighorn sheep grazing right beside the road. The Banff townsite itself is iconic, but extremely "touristy" and not much for photo opps ... great spot for finding food, and loads of shopping opportunities if that is what you are into :). There are some classic vistas down around the Banff Springs Hotel (but parking can be a challenge, particularly on weekends). There is also a gondola you can take up Sulphur Mountain from Banff ... spectacular scenery but a pricey ride. It used to be (years ago when I last went up) that you could walk/hike the trail to the top and get the same scenery (for free) and then they would let you ride back down on the gondola for free ... I thought I had heard somewhere that this is no longer the case, but I am not certain. It is a long way up for those who walk (at least for us "old guys").

Do you recommend bring a long zoom lens for wildlife ? We have no intention of hiking, just if by chance we see wildlife close enough by side of parkway as i didn't plan on bringing my Nikon 80-200mm (my longest lens). I had packed my Fuji X-T1 with 18-55mm, 16mm and a 35 only until this morning when i searched for more Banff/Jasper information. We are to leave on Wednesday flying to Vancouver and taking train to Edmonton, from there would be driving around to Jasper, Lake Louise and Calgary and spend week and half around the area.

If you were camping, there would be a good chance of an elk poking his nose into your tent! They're very large animals and have a curiosity to match their size :-)
It is very difficult to say how far the animals will be away. Sometimes they'll be within a few yards, sometimes they'll be a quarter mile down the road. If you see a long row of cars parked on the side of the road, there alsmost certainly is/are (an) animal(s) on that side of the road.
While you're there, check with the Campsites: Lake Louise and Whistlers (near Jasper): they often have "talks" by park guides, very interesting and informative. Always in the evening.
Have you applied for and received your park pass? If not check with the tourist office in Edmonton (check on-line for the address). They're free this year, but you do need one.
You'll likely be driving Hwy 16 (Yellowhead Hwy) to Jasper. Stop at the tourist office in Jasper (it's right across from the train station). Have your list of questions ready, and the staff will be more than happy to help you.
And while you're there, take your "must-do" photos with Jasper. He's standing outside the railway station.
Enjoy that part of our beautiful country!

Thank you, Morning Star !
I got my pass months ago, and thanks for the tips. I couldn't fit another body and lens in my carry-on bag so I'll be shooting most of the time with my Fuji 18-55 and 16mm, wasn't a photography trip in the first place.

I am only taking my Tamron 18-200mm for my Sony a6000. Decided to leave the big canon at home. Doing that more these days since getting the Sony. Have a good trip, hope we do the same. Have gotten so much great info from this group!! Thanks...
