Several questions come to mind:
1. What is your experience?
2. What kids of photography interest you?
3. What is your budget?
There is no definitive answer. The number of choices is vast and varied. Cameras are similar to cars/computers/... There will always be newer models that ostensibly make the older ones "obsolete". Not true!! They are obsolete when they no longer serve your individual needs.
Good luck.

I am looking to buy a new camera and some of the models that I am considering were introduced in 2015. I don't want to buy a "new" camera and then find out that a newer version comes out shortly after my purchase.

My questions are....is there a time of year that camera manufacturers introduce new models? How can I find out what is in the manufacturer pipelines and their expected release dates?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I laugh at those folks who line up days before a new iPhone release. I wait until at least revision 2 of the software...

Right. And then you can walk right in, if you wait a few days. OR you can order online.

The first "wave" of new products to arrive nearly always has at least one "anomaly" in it. It gets reported almost immediately, and most anomalies get fixed in the second or third boatload of product.

Rev. A = engineered dream
Rev. B = customer reactions to A
Rev. C = refined, mature product
Rev. D = elegant product
Rev. E contains bloated features

You might want to look at a refurbished Nikon D800 or D800e. They are incredible cameras. The factory refurbished are a fraction of the new price, but they work just as well.

If you continue to concern yourself that a new model is going to come out right after you purchase whatever you decide on, you'll never purchase a camera. The newer ones won't do anything much more than the current ones.

Back in the early '90s computers were advancing so quickly that I mused to a friend (computer nerd) about what could I do? I was in your same predicament. His advice was sage. He said, "Go out and buy the biggest, fastest one you can that is within your budget. Run it until you wear it out. At least you'll have the computer experience down the road and maybe a better budget for the bigger, faster one that will be in your sights by then." Same thing applies to digital cameras. As someone has previously pointed out, they are essentially computers. Go out and buy the best one that your budget will allow. By the time you learn all of the bells and whistles on it you might decide that you really like what you have and don't need or want a newer one. It was that way with me. I have a little Canon point and shoot that is 10Mps. It's about 15 years old, but I can still get some pretty good photos with it even now. My major beef with it was the view screen. Here in the western U.S. the sun is so bright that it completely washes out the view screen if you're outside. It is really inconvenient to carry a black cloth around to cloak yourself and part of the camera so you can see and frame what you want. So I decided to get a DSLR just for the viewfinder if nothing else. Besides, I had used two SLRs during my film days and enjoyed them very much. So, I picked out two fairly high-end cameras, a Nikon and a Canon, that were similar in performance and price. The problem was they were above the top price I was willing to pay, so I delayed the purchase. Fortunately it was December and the price of the Nikon (D5100, 16Mps) came down on sale for Christmas at just below what I had figured to pay, so I bought it. That was my present from Santa. To shorten what already has become a long story; I have never looked back. I'm glad I made that purchase then (2011). I have looked forward now and then, but I'm still satisfied with what I have despite the advances (and fairly stable pricing) in both camera lines.

Well.....the decision has been made and I pulled the trigger on a Canon G3X with EVF. Found a used one at a reasonable price and looking forward to receiving it next week. Should be fun to get out there and start shooting with it.

Thanks to all those who offered positive feedback and information to help make the decision.

The day you buy a new camera, it's already an old version. I used to do computer consulting for businesses, and the purchaser always had the same concern, and I always had the same answer. When a tech product hits the shelves, there are at least three generations of that product in development. Innovation drives the tech industry, probably more so than any other industry. You can wait forever for the latest and greatest, but you will be depriving yourself of the experience of learning and using equipment today.

I have a Nikon D5500, that I bought just before Christmas. The D5600 is now out, should I have waited? No, I enjoy photography and post processing. What would my thrill have been reading tech reviews to have the newest, flashiest, and with my experience level, totally under utilized camera I could buy?

Find a camera with the features you like, in the price range you can afford, and don't worry about what's coming out next week, next year, or in the next decade.

I hope to see you posting photos soon!
