Angle or Straight On Shot?

This was shot at an angle which I liked but the square in the corner needs to be a bit more level. Any opinions? Btw, the striations in the wall are not any of my editing this is the natural wall. I'm a bit ambivalent about that part of the picture too. Should I also get the tip of the "One Way" sign in the picture? I welcome any opinions...

The tip of the one-way sign would be nice, but not necessary at all. The sign is straight and the "wall decorations" are straight--I wouldn't change a thing.
I like this a lot.

Annie, When I look at your image, what are you trying to say to me?

I agree. The arrow sign sets the mood for the whole pic, and it is perfectly level. Don't change a thing.

like others. I am not a bit distracted by the angles.

Shooting at an angle wold help give the illusion of depth whole straight on will render a flat image. Why not shoot it both ways and then decide?

Personally, I would add some contrast and try to salvage the end of the One Way sign. Also, you might try this in a high contrast monochrome version.

Provocative image, I like it.

I would crop it tighter, through that upper rectangle and the bottom chain, but that's just my taste. I think it's good.

Lovely image, the only comment I have as a suggestion, I would like to see the full one way sign, not clipped off.

Annie,

Shooting subjects at a little angle provides shadows and allows the natural light to display depth from the objects on the wall. In nature, viewing objects at an angle instills perspective for the objects near the camera to farther away from the camera.

It would have been nice to include the head of the arrow and complete the entire shape of the sign, but it is not necessary, everybody can recognize it is a One Way Traffic Sign.

The level of the horizontal elements are not important, that is the perspective effect. What is important is the vertical lines are vertical. If the camera (point of view) is level then building corners, light poles, signage, needs to have vertical lines (not tilted). If the camera is pointed upward to capture the tip of a building then the vertical lines need to be vertical (not tilted), and the horizontal lines need to be level.
A reference to reality needs to be maintained. (Remembering how the subject looked without the viewfinder).

There is no fore or back ground, single planes are the hardest to cope with. Have you completely forgotten about the rule of thirds? I'm just sayin'; Jim Zimmerman said it kills your creativity but when in doubt I go back to the "rules". Leading space is one of the rules like breaking the rules; what is there to work with there? A lot of people will say don't listen to that nut but when shooters like Schaub and Zimmerman say do it , I listen. You straightened it but there was no room to crop so what does that tell you?

1 Remember that all rules shall be broken

2 The one way sign IS the object of your picture, whether you want it to be or not.
2a The arrow forces your eyes out of the picture ( I wonder how many people without looking know what the other sign said?)

3 If the one way sign is your object, it would be better if it were pointing into the picture

I have included a chopped photo - look at where your eyes go when the arrow is pointing into the frame (now you see the other sign). I am not saying you should do this to your photo, but frame your shots with arrows pointing into the frame, moving objects moving into the frame with enough room so they don't take your gaze out of the frame

finally, reread point #1

Why go to all the trouble when you can just move the sign on the wall.
