The reason I bought my first camera at my local two state chain was because it was one of the few places I could go to touch the different models. An hour away from my home at the Sacramento Zoo they were hosting the reps from Nikon, Canon, Tamron, Olympus, Panasonic and Sony who were going to let us play with their stuff for the price of admission to the zoo and the deposit of a Driver's License and Credit Card.
I have to say it was very fun. And I learned some things too. A Nikon D750 with a 200-500mm lens does not make a Lumix GH5 with a Leica 100-400mm feel light. Very fun indeed!!!
