Don, where have you been???? Nice canon but for me it blends to well with it's surroundings....got one with the guys firing it with smoke and all?
Think I'd prefer it in action but it's a nice study - perhaps lighten the background a bit for some separation?

Hi, Don,
It's been a while!
I like your low perspective, but wonder if a more shallow depth of field might have more effectively delineated the cannon?
The BG detail...especially the vertical tree trunks distract from the cannon and its tamping rod.
Dave
It does blend in but access to the area where cannons were staged were off limits.
I have quite a few of them firing. Here are a couple for you Frank.

See above for action shots magnetoman. Will give your suggestion a try. Thanks for the comment.

Thanks for your comments Dave. Just haven't been posting a lot lately, got to do more. Will check Lightroom to see what aperture I used for this shot. Agree with you, should have been a shallower DOF. As I stated above you could not really work the scene as I would have liked due to the cannon areas being off limits for a lot of the time.

A nice shot, Don. I think that, since you are focusing on the single canon, you might have gotten a bit closer and really filled the frame with the canon. The low perspective works well, though. I also enjoyed the action shots you included; but I totally understand why you wanted the single canon by itself without the smoke and commotion.

Like to try some new things from time to time and thought the single cannon might work. Went back and checked the f-stop, it was 8. If I had chosen 4 or even 5.6 it would have been a better choice. I could crop a little more but I thought I might have a canvas wrap print made and if I did I would lose parts of the cannon. The first canvas wrap I did I was amazed at how much image you lost in the wrap.
I appreciate you taking the time to comment and critique Erich, it is appreciated.
