I recently acquired a Minolta CLE camera. This camera was a collaboration between Minolta and Leica and is a beautiful compact film camera.
The camera is in excellent condition with one exception. The rangefinder does not work. The rangefinder is the same type found on Leica cameras. However, when focusing, the focus spot does not move. I can still use the camera using proper aperture and zone focusing, but I would like to get it repaired, and at the same time, perhaps a CLA.
Is Rick still in business and/or could someone suggest someone who could make the repairs. I am NOT looking for a cheap shop in someone's den closet. I'm not wealthy, but am willing to pay a fair price.
Thank you.
BHC - Sorry you are experiencing a problem with the Minolta. Try contacting Don Goldberg; Don previously did some work on my Leica M6 35mm rangefinder camera. Not cheap, but his prices are reasonable and he approaches things from a practical standpoint. /Ralph

Thanks, Jerry. Been there; still working my way through the list. I got the camera at a very advantageous price (especially compared to e-bay) from a trusted source (a member) and am willing to spend more to bring it up to snuff (ah well, Ramen noodles for another month). The problem, which I think is the focus mirror or linkage, could have occurred in transit. RFF (rangefinder forum) gave me one lead, but he no longer works on CLE's due to a shortage of parts. If I have to, I'll buy a junker for parts and turn the job over to a local pro I know.
