It almost looks like a setup. Why would someone be there with a camera at just the "right" moment? The real dog is not in a happy mood - otherwise its tail would be up, not down. Put some substance that does not a color that would show up in a photo, in the "appropriate" spot and see what the dog does. They have an extremely sensitive sense of smell, so we humans would have no idea if anything was there. It is probably not a food odor, as the dog might have an uplifted tail in anticipation. The tail being down would seem to suggest that the odor is something of a concern to the dog, but nonetheless something that the dog would want to check out. In such circumstances, dogs only respond to female hormones, so that would seem to be un-reproduceable. Besides, dogs are smart enough to know the difference between a real dog and a drawing that doesn't' move.

Nevertheless, the photographer got a funny picture - no doubt what he or she wanted. There are a lot of amusing and funny photos on the web that are the result of peoples' seemingly infinite genius for creativity for our pleasure and amusement.
