They are having a big big sale. Does that mean there are new cameras coming soon?

I haven't heard anything on the rumor mill, but doesn't necessarily mean anything. A lot of times Olympus will market their bodies on sale and sell you the lense or put the lense on sale and sell you the body. And then they occasionally bundle a larger lense set with a body, but usually the lenses are the slower lenses (still at a good price). With summer coming and many people buying the Olympus as a downsized system or a secondary camera, they may be trying to sweeten their sale volume / overall profit by getting more people to buy. A lower price than "normal" may get someone off the "fence" and buying an Olympus.

Oh by the way, Olympus did bring out their new TG-5. It really isn't in quite the same category as the interchangeable lense cameras.

Probably not, but I would like to see them produce a FF mirrorless system to complement their M43.

Please No...it'll just take away from m4/3 development, especially lens their development. Go grab a Sony if you want/need ff.

Why not FF? You just want Sony and Fuji to rule the FF mirrorless roost? I am a big Olympus fan but not of M43.

For my reason stated above. It takes away from further development of m4/3.

Not sure what the hate is towards m4/3...I'm able to produce spectacular images from it. The em1ii, 7-14, 12-40, 75, 150, ec-14/20 gives me all the fast range I need. 14-600mm f2.8-4 (in ff terms) that can be easily carried anywhere and shot handheld.

It definitely means they want to sell more cameras, but probably not introducing new models.

It's not "hate" but I do like options - Sony, Fuji, and in the DSLR world Nikon, Canon, Pentax etc. offer both APS-C and FF options. It's nice to have options. I do like very much the Olympus design philosophies (big fan of the OM film series in the 70s thru 90s) except the choice of M43 in PRO models, or ONLY M43 as an only choice. M43 has hit a speed and resolution bump due the size of the chip, especially for low light photography, but it does have its applications. They can make a FF version of the OM-D line in parallel - they have patents for a whole new lens system based on it. They can have both lines and I would probably buy both. Where do you see M43 development going down the road? It's pretty far as it goes. Maybe EVF improvements? I do hate to see Sony have an overly dominate market share - while technically superior I don't like their designs in the APS-C/FF A6/A7/A9 lines. They need COMPETITION!

BTW I may still go for an OM-D camera/lens to try maybe the EM5 mk ii + one or two zooms despite my opinion above. Have considered the A7Rii but a bit above my current budget. Currently I am in the Nikon DSLR world. :)

For me, I'm on on the upper end of m4/3 gear, but for what/how I shoot, super low light performance isn't a problem as I don't have a whole lot of need for it. I'm able to pull or push in post the shadows or highlights. Sure a FF sensor would help that, but the latest sensor in the em1ii performs quite nicely for my taste...Attached is the type of stuff I shoot, often times needing to hike to where I want to shoot...larger gear does not bode well for that, nor would it fit in my carry on bags for when I take it on work trips. FF gear, unless it is the same size as m4/3, I'll pass.

Not to mention weather sealing, lower cost, and image stabilization...

Agree!

The only reason to stay with FF is owning a set of lenses that will fit the (new) camera. Otherwise if it's a bigger sensor you are after then go with a medium format camera.

Or film...that's what I do with my Mamiya 645. My large format rig will be here in a couple of months...then I need to refurbish it.

Like your shot Cd. The main limitation of the m4/3 would seem to be the limitation of the maximum size that a quality print can be produced because of the small sensor. However I regularly print 17" by 22" sizes without any feeling that they are inferior to what could be obtained from a full size sensor although I have not made a direct comparison. i.e. making a print from both and critically examining them for differences. Would like to know if any one has done this.
