This is my first photo post. Pictures were taken in my backyard. This was the first Brown Thrasher I saw this season. I am using a Canon 5D Mark iii and a Sigma 150-600mm Sport zoom.

This is a good start. I see that your shutter speed was 1/400. If these were shot handheld, that probably is a little too slow. However, I see that your iso was bumped to 3200. Perhaps you did not have good light? The reason I mention this is that your photos are a little soft. A 150-600 at 600 focal length will usually be a little soft, also. I do like your images, this is just my opinion. Keep posting.

Thanks for the fine feedback kpmac! I was using a tripod, but did not have a remote shutter switch which may have added to the softness as I no doubt got some vibrations. You were correct about not having good light - shadows under tree canopy. I was trying to get a photo of a great looking red-headed woodpecker, but maybe another day. He was pretty shy! I noticed the thrasher in the grass.
I keep trying until I get it right.

Beautiful set, Nitroclimber and we also have a pair that stays with us year round, and they are more visible during the nesting season.
