I am looking to trade in my Sony a-100, 70-200 Sony telephoto lens, and Sigma 10-20 mm wide angle lens. I want to replace with a new Sony NEX-5 and whatever telephoto I can find.
Adorama tells me to use a pre-paid UPS label they sent me, and send everything to them to get a quote, to be returned if not accepted at their cost. Does anyone have experience doing this? I ahven't used them before, so your views would be invaluable.

Pretty much the gold standard as far as I'm concernend. Been dealing with them for about 10 years. They've gone above and beyond in several of my dealings with them.

My advice: photograph each piece before you pack it and note down the serial numbers. Take another photograph of everything in the box once it is inside; add a list of all the items and keep a copy. Tape it up securely and sign across the tape.

When your gear has been evaluated you will be called and told the value; this will be the expected re-sale value; you can expect 70% of that.

If you are trading up for a new item, the amount you receive for your used item will be tax-exempt.

I hope this helps, but do drop me an email if you need any help at all: helen@adorama.com

Don't worry!

9,999 times out of 10,000 everything is AOK. But for somebody who is worried, at least you know you've done everything you possbly can, to ensure a problem-free delivery.

And there's always me if anything at all doesn't go as smoothly as hoped.

That is so thoughtful of you! I show that they received it this Wednesday (6/13), so hopefully I'll hear back from them soon!

Is it just me, or does anyone else see Colonel Sanders, when looking at warriors avatar. ( I mean it with all due respect, Col Sanders didn't even start franchising KFC until 65, and is a hero of mine for showing it is never to late to start something new.)

Nope. No white suit. Someone said they heard that KFC is closing hundreds or locations, but ours in Kingston, NY, is safe.

Hi, I've sold them some used gear and it was a painless process. You can sell yourself for more $ but you don't have the hassle dealing with them. You have nothing to worry about in my experience. Good luck and keep shootin'. Mike
