Do you think an actuation count of 24,839 on a Canon 7Dii purchased October 2015 is too high or about average? I am considering buying off a photography student for $1200 Canadian. Islandgal

From CanonUSA EOS 7D Mark II EF-S 18-135mm IS STM Lens Kit Refurbished $1499 full warranty the lens sells fro $270+ so you are not getting a bargain unless it has a really good lens coming with it.

I have purchased two cameras, and an L lens refurbished from canon and they are superb. Think about it, real people have handled each f them and checked them and adj them not some random pick from an assembly line.

Thanks for your reply. I'm in Canada, things cost more here. The exchange rate would put the price higher as well if I bought American.
A refurbished body from an authorized photo store here starts at $1499 not including tax. This camera comes with a 18-55mm (nothing special) and a 32 gig card. The lens doesn't matter to me as I have L lenses. I am more wondering if the shots taken are average or over the top for it's age.

That's not a lot of usage. I would consider it ok, and is a lot less than I would have shot when I was more active (sports etc).

Thank you Richard. I will probably go with the purchase as the owner is conscientious and has looked after his gear.

For me, it would be out of the question. I've bought used and refurbished, many with under 100 clicks. I think the highest count was about 1,500. You're smart to consider the shutter count. I never bid on a camera without knowing the exact number of actuations, and "hardly used" doesn't count.

Recent sales on ebay.

Thank you Mark, I will have to check your posts as I think I recall you gave links for shutter count software at one time. I'll probably fall off my chair when I learn what my current camera has on it!

For me, the count would be too high to consider purchase. However, as you know, this is really a very personal decision.

I shoot a great deal of sports (Grandchildren's Teams) with Canon: 7D MII & Canon 70 - 200mm f/2.8 II. With L lenses, the 7D MII is a fabulous action duo. I've attached a couple.

Mark, he's a handsome fellow. But what is the relevance to the original post?

How many images do you expect to shoot per year? The 7D mk II is anticipated to be around 200,000, so this is about 12% used. Let's say you have an estimated 175,000 shots left. You should be able to work out how many years you have before a shutter replacement may be needed and they're not horribly expensive.

It also shows me that the EF 70-200mm 2.8 IS L lens that I have Jim Bob produces a nice image! He is a dapper young man Mark, and I hope he goes far with his sport.

Does that depend on our differences, perhaps you shoot more often and high burst to my more recreational photo taking? It would be nice if it was lower of course!
