HDR from RAW

Thank you all for the information. I tried one image by creating 3 jpgs one stop on either side of normal and one at normal. However, it was not one with a wide dynamic range, so it made little difference when combined back in what PSE 15 calls Photomerge Exposure. I don't have a real HDR program. I only started shooting raw within the last month or so, so did not have an appropriate image to use. Where I can see the usefulness is with action shots that cannot be taken with different exposures.

Try the free NIK Collection from Google. https://www.google.com/nikcollection/

Also, if you do install the NIK Collection, take a single RAW file and open it in HDR Efex 2 in the NIK collection. You'll be surprised how well it can work.

Should add to this that there are a lot of preset choices and sliders. Play with all of them and get a sense as to what they do. Slide them extreme to get that sense and then back off and pick something more appealing. Many interact so you may need to readjust as you go. I rarely find presets that have what I'm looking for, but they can be a good starting point.
