This is a challenging composition for me and I've viewed at length. The stained glass is absolutely exquisite and the chandelier quite beautiful. But...the jagged details on the lower part are so different in style and mood of the rest and of course are blocking some of the windows, so I fear I am not appreciating the whole because of the parts.

I've gone back to the original shot I took and I think it is probably a more striking image then the one I "created". Any thoughts?
Perhaps I was trying to be too clever.

It's really just what you like the best, but for me this gives so much more context. And it truly is a breathtaking subject. Thanks!(note: leaning slightly to left?)

This is extremely imaginative and quite creative. I'm not sure I like the detail shot better than the full view. The detail shot, however, is the one that holds my interest because of the changes you made. It demonstrates that you are trying to go in a direction that reflects you own personal view of the scene. I think you could try to clean up the selection a bit. I might also try something other than black. Perhaps some textures as layers and then masked? The decision, of course, is entirely yours.

My question would be why mess with a beautiful subject that's a well taken shot? I'm sure you thought it was an improvement but have a feeling you may find your in a minority. I have visited Hereford Cathedral and its a stunning building so thank you for reviving pleasant memories.

I liked the worked image, but I think I like the original better. Is it listing a bit to the left, or is it my astigmatism getting in the way again?
