Once again rocket ships. Why are we as a race of supposedly intelligent beings using this as a means of leaving the planet?. We cannot get far using this kind of technology and I know I am going to get blasted for stating this but its a fact. And no I dont know of any other way of doing it but then I'm not a scientist but another way will have to come if we are to explore and expand into outer space.

That ship was designed to study the earth, not space. It is mostly a retrievable spy satellite.

They, the scientists, haven't come up with anything better yet. I am sure that they have been looking at all types of propulsion.

My point really is that this kind of propulsion has been around since Adam was a lad and we need to do something competently different to explore the vast regions of space. I am certain that we will come up this means of harnessing free energy that is everywhere (Gravity, Magnetism , Dark matter, Anti matter) and we will get out there eventually because we are a restless race .

My guess is that neither of us will be around to witness that should it eventuate!

I can guarantee that bcheary. I'm hitting 73 this year and not getting any younger . When we got to the moon in 1969 I was 25 and thought we would have been on Mars well before now but it wasn't to be.

We could have already gone to Mars; all it takes is the national will and money to do it. Most people don't realize that the NASA budget is only about 0.5% (1/2 of one per cent) of the Federal budget; well in the noise. We could double or triple the NASA budget and it would not be noticed, yet we could really go exploring. Also, there are always "unintended benefits" realized from the technology development. BTW, I'm not too far behind you.
