From Ken Rockwell's update, "I shot with my Nikon D3200 all weekend, and love it! It's got better ergonomics, better color rendition and a better LCD than my D800E."

Is this possible? A $700 D3200 provides better color rendition than their award winning $3,300 D800/D800E - what's Ken smoking?

it is all subjective to him. He does not do any standard testing on color charts, or any lab testing like both popular photography and shutterbug magazines do. What he says is just opinion, sometimes acurate but still opinon. have not seen any lab tests yet for the d-3200. but initial reviews look good so far.

Hey Doc ..... he was a big fan of the Nikon D40 ..... has also been a big fan of jpeg's right out of the camera, no PP, photography.

He likes the Fuji X100 for the same reason

Here's another quote from his website:
"This website is my way of giving back to our community. It is a work of fiction, entirely the product of my own imagination."

He's fun to read and can be informative, but you have to be able to read through the BS.

You have to be careful with Ken, some of his comments are contradictory and so opinionated....but every now and then he drops a gold nugget that's terrific. I like to check him opinion out with a host of others before I make a decision.

All correct. He's not doing a scientific analysis of the equipment, but he tells you how he likes it compared to similar equipment. He does give factual information about the performance of cameras and lenses. When he makes a statement, I believe he is telling the truth. He will say Model X is the best camera he has ever used, and a couple of months later he might say that Model Y is the best. He's not being fickle; it's just that Model Y is newer and better. Be sure to check the date that a column was written. If he says that Model A is a fantastic camera, it probably was - in 2005. If he were to give it a review today, he would point out how newer cameras are better.

As with all things, get lots of opinions and read many reviews.

Hey guys and girls he has been around here a long time, he gets in print very frequently, advertisers love him, so he must be doing something right, the more he is derided the more he becomes visible and he must have a very, very, very, thick skin. So the more he's knocked the more popular he becomes, he has big you know what along with brains.

I think in his case it's a laugh all the way to the bank thing.
But, I admit, I have read some of his advice that became quite useful to me.

Let's face it, he has been around longer and has more experience on ALL types of equipment than anyone I know -AND he is quite intelligent to go along with it - his opinions are valuable to me - and should be to you too !
