Making lemonade from lemons

This is from a bad mistake. I was at a wetlands on a bright sunny day. Neither the viewfinder nor the monitor on my camera (Pentax K-x) was very seeable. Apparently it was set for a wide open lens. Most of my shots were severely over exposed, until I saw the problem. This image was barely discernable in the original, but became acceptable with a lot of PSE work.

It looks like an illustration. Cool!
Now it makes me wonder if one could do something similar with a properly exposed image.

I love it! There are many contrasty b&w done similarly on purpose Part of the success, I think, is having a recognizable subject and making sure there are no bits of unnecessary details around.

It would actually be a little harder to do it with a correctly exposed image. You would have to select a lot more. The overexposure did most of the selection for me. Skyking: I did do a panorama of the hills surrounding the wetlands. Looks a lot like an etching. May post it later. Thanks to all for the interest.
